The Sensis sky signs were unique in their design and while not the largest in Melbourne's CBD nor mounted highest in the air they presented their own challenges.
The structures weighing some 1.3 tonnes were precariously positioned 40 metres above Lonsdale Street and were cantilevered down the face of a fully glazed facade with the only point of attachment over the top of the wall to the roof.
The project required a 5 week delivery time which was extremely tight for a job of this size with a number of unknowns and variables involved. However, TSG were pleased to take up the challenge and while it was agreed that the timeframes were dangerously tight, the project was still achievable!
Despite the usual site issues and other obstacles the Signcraft team met the deadline to manufacture the signs thanks to diligent adherence to a carefully monitored plan.
The installation required a 50 tonne crane positioned in Lonsdale Street, extensive traffic management with multiple lane and footpath closures and extensive permitting. This operation took 2 weeks in the planning and had the potential to go very wrong if there were to be a weak link in the chain. Despite some tricky wind conditions, the job proceeded thanks to some thorough risk assessment which resulted in a completely flawless exercise.
